The Molina Campos Museum of Areco is located in the block where years ago the Pazzaglia house worked. Founded about a century ago, by Aquiles and Antonio Pazzaglia, descendents of italian immigrants, they arrived at the zone to work in the rural area. Their bussiness prospered in the agricultural and cattle area and according to the agrarian necessities and the personnel who worked for the family, the offices, deposits in bulk, blacksmith shop and factories they went locating in the block that at the moment the museum occupies, behind the family´s house. The factories worked in behalf of the productivity of Pazzaglia S.A. The company represented an important source of work for the zone. Towards year 1938 they had near 638 employees. Many craftsmen were formed in their offices in the factories of the company.
In the space where east factory worked are today the two rooms, in which the works of the permanent collection of the Molina Campos Museum of Areco are located.
Years later the company closed, the block was divided and some lands were sold out. The space that occupies the museum was maintained in disuse by a time.
The Fundación Las Lilas acquires the property in 2006 from the owner of a house of antiques, with the purpose of giving seat to the Molina Campos Museum of Areco. The works of restoration of the original building began, along with the construction of new spaces. The work was directed by the Architect Luis Fernando Benedit and coordinated by the Aldasoro Studio. After a year and means of works, the museum opened its doors to the public in april 2009. |
